WHERE DO I STAY BEFORE AND AFTER THE TRIP ?

The first night and last night we all stay at the BEST WESTERN, Chinle, located at the entrance to the Canyon. This lodging is included in your tuition. Double Occupancy. If you desire single occupancy, please arrange for this in advance - Additional Single Supplement fee will apply.

HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD I BRING ?

Navajo artists sometimes bring jewelry and pottery for sale at White House, the most famous ruin we will visit. Otherwise, all of your expenses are covered by TAS.

HOW CAN MY FAMILY CONTACT ME IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY ?

In case of a true Emergency, your family may contact relatives of the our outfitters, who live in Chinle. They will send a message out to our campsite in the Canyon. Phone number provided upon registration.
There may or may not be cell reception.

HOW FAR WILL WE ACTUALLY BE FROM MEDICAL SERVICES ?

The town of Chinle has a 60 bed Hospital called: Chinle Comprehensive Hospital Facility (520) 674-7001, located 6 miles from the entrance to Canyon de Chelly on Highway 191 It offers: ER / PT / OB / PED / In-Patient as well as Out-Patient services and features a 4 bed Intensive Care Unit. The nearest full Trauma Center is in Gallup NM at The Gallup Indian Medical Center which is 1 1/2 hours away by car and a 45 minute trip by the Med Evac. helicopter. The hospital is operated for the exclusive of members of the Navajo Nation, however, if you declare an emergency they will admit you, and stabilize your condition before sending you to another hospital.

There is a first aid kit on this trip containing basic supplies for minor illness & injuries including "Tweezers: two types, Straight & Double handled," Antibacterial cleaners - "Wet Ones" Anti-Itch medication - "Cortizone ointment" Waterproof bandage tape - "Johnson & Johnson" Antacid relief - "Alka-Seltzer" Scissors, Oral Disposable Thermometer, Pain Reliever: Aspirin & non-Aspirin, Triple antibiotic ointment, Iodine Prep Pad, Eye washes, Instant cold compress, Curad Burn ointment, Gauze pads, cotton, Disposable gloves, Anti-histamine Allergy relief: "Diphen," Bandages: Regular as well as: "Compeed moisture seal,"
